Started in 1928 in Suhl, Germany, four generations of Ziegenhahn have perfected their trade to become counted among the finest gun makers in all of Germany. They are located today in Zella-Mehlis, only a few kilometers from their original home. Ziegenhahn's philosophy is simple. “A fine quality hand made gun has to be individually tailored to the needs of its' future owner. The personal taste of the owner shape the character of the gun, just as a fine craftsman does working with the finest materials available. We understand that a high quality gun is a cultural possession for today, and generations to come. Our respect for the craftsmanship of previous generations is the basis of our work. An individually produced gun is not a soul-less object, but a work of art created with loving care. The owners develop a very special relationship with their arms. A gun made by Ziegenhahn isn't just a gun, it's YOUR gun.”
In all of my travels around Europe I have met many fine gun makers. Of all of these, Jens Ziegenhahn is one of my favorites. He is truly a master craftsman and a fine gentleman. If versatility is any measure, then he is a yardstick to measure by. He currently produces large bore bolt action rifles, “Heeren” block single shot rifles, kipplaufbuchsen break action stalking rifles, O&U double rifles and shotguns, and SxS double rifles and shotguns in five different action types.
SxS shotguns are available in Anson-Deeley boxlock, H&H sidelock, “Old English” boxlock, and “Old English” sidelock.
